Are you an expert in Housing Service Charges with a forensic eye for detail? Do you take pride in untangling complex historical data and leaving no stone unturned? Are you immediately available and looking for a remote, outcome-focused contract?

This forward-thinking Housing provider is seeking an Interim Service Charge Project Accountant on a 6-month contract to lead a defined piece of project work. This role exists to resolve a long-standing backlog of historic service charge records, ensuring that all data is reconciled, queries resolved, and that final outputs are accurate, compliant, and audit-ready.

The Business As Usual process is now running smoothly thanks to a recent systems upgrade — this contract is focused purely on historical data and will operate outside of BAU functions. This role falls outside IR35 owing to its distinct project nature and can be performed fully remotely.

Key Responsibilitiesinclude:

  • Investigate and reconcile historic service charge accounts
  • Resolve financial discrepancies and outstanding service charge queries
  • Present fully auditable records for long-term compliance and closure
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant service charge legislation
  • Work independently while engaging with internal stakeholders for updates and support

This is a rare opportunity to work on a clearly defined, high-impact project without the distraction of Business As Usual tasks. It’s ideal for someone who thrives on tidying legacy data, enjoys working autonomously, and wants to make a measurable difference in a short timeframe. With a fully remote setup, flexible working, and a clear deliverable, this role offers all the challenge of a senior project without the ongoing responsibility of a BAU position.

To be considered, please meet these criteria:

  • Extensive service charge experience within the social housing sector and in-depth knowledge of relevant service charge legislation and compliance requirements
  • Exceptional attention to detail and investigative mindset with a proven ability to reconcile complex historical data
  • Comfortable working remotely and independently
  • Available immediately or at short notice
