We are supporting this close-knit not-for-profit organisation in their search for a strategic and hands-on Head of Finance to join their lovely team. Reporting to the CEO and sitting as part of the Executive Committee, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial, payroll, asset, and IT systems across the organisation. You will play a key role in shaping financial planning and strategic growth, ensuring compliance, managing risks, and delivering insightful financial reports to support decision-making at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities of the Head of Finance include:

  • Lead on financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Deliver clear, timely, and accurate financial reports, including Board Packs and KPI insights.
  • Oversee budget planning and financial forecasting, ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Manage external relationships with banks, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Implement and maintain a robust risk management framework.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax, financial, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee IT systems and hardware management across the organisation.

The role is officially based out of their offices in South Birmingham, although opportunities to work from home are on offer for two days per week.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A full accountancy qualification or be able to prove they are qualified by experience.
  • Ideally, a background working in the charity, social housing or wider non-profit sector, but candidates without are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Experience managing finance teams, overseeing audits, and liaising with senior stakeholders.
  • A hands-on approach to financial management, with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to challenge and support senior management with financial insights and recommendations.
