Robertson Bell is delighted to be partnering with a values-led organisation that sits at the heart of a wide and diverse community, to recruit their next Financial Controller. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative and purpose-driven environment where financial leadership plays a critical role in shaping long-term impact.

You’ll be responsible for the full spectrum of financial operations—from budgeting, forecasting and reporting, through to statutory accounts, audit processes, and ERP optimisation. As the most senior day-to-day finance lead, you’ll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, guiding financial strategy and ensuring robust compliance.

Key priorities will include:

  • Leading the production of monthly management accounts and reporting packs to tight deadlines
  • Developing the annual budget and financial forecasts in collaboration with budget holders
  • Managing year-end accounts, audit preparation and liaison with external auditors
  • Strengthening financial controls, risk management and compliance procedures
  • Enhancing finance systems and leading process improvement initiatives across teams
  • Overseeing fund accounting, restricted/unrestricted fund reporting, and grant management
  • Leading and developing a finance team, fostering capability and growth
  • Supporting and influencing cross-organisational financial decision making

We’re looking for an experienced finance professional who thrives in environments with complexity and purpose. You’ll be analytical and systems-focused, but also able to translate numbers into insight, coaching others to engage confidently with financial matters. This position will require three days per week from their head office in Coventry.

Key experience and attributes include:

  • A qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience
  • Proven track record in financial leadership, ideally within a multi-entity or regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and charity reporting requirements (SORP)
  • Demonstrable experience of developing financial systems and leading teams through change
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including non-finance teams
  • Skilled in Excel and financial systems (experience of ERP rollouts a bonus)
  • Comfortable working in a values-led, mission-driven environment

We are working to a very quick deadline on this role so please apply now to arrange a confidential discussion.
