We are seeking a dynamic Financial Controller for a 3-month fixed-term contract (FTC) to lead and develop a high-performing finance operations team in a well-established organisation based in South London. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this is a fantastic opportunity to oversee core financial operations, enhance internal controls, and play a key role in the organisation’s financial strategy.

The key duties of this role are as follows:

  • Oversee cash management, treasury operations, and banking relationships to maintain financial stability.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and delegated authority matrices across the organisation, including international offices.
  • Manage the preparation of statutory accounts, VAT returns, and compliance requirements.
  • Support the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership to a small team, ensuring effective delivery of the transactional finance function.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Ideally fully qualified as an accountant or be qualified by demonstrable experience.
  • Expertise in VAT compliance, statutory account preparation, and audit processes.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing and developing a team through significant change.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a track record of driving process improvements.
  • Ideally, a background working in the not-for-profit sector.
